Tales of the Black Forest
Frið refers to the sense of peace and security a mouse feels while surrounded by his friends and family. In many ways, it forms the basis of mouse society. Mice hold frið up as an ideal for mouse life. The mouseholds exist in hopes of providing that sense of peace and security. A less sincere meaning appears often in politics, where it describes the relationship between the government of a particular mousehold and its mice. In this sense, the government tries to position the mousehold as a kind of very large family. Few mice actually believe this, though they accept the use of the term as rhetorical.
